Job Description

The Laundry & Environmental Specialist Float team member is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and staff by performing both housekeeping and laundry duties. This role provides flexibility to work across Laundry (primary) and Environmental Services as needed, ensuring cleanliness, sanitation, and efficient operations in both areas.
Schedule:
Mon - Fri 7a- 3:30p An individual must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Laundry Responsibilities:
Perform all phases of washing, drying, folding, and distributing linens and/or resident personal clothing. Operate and maintain laundry equipment in accordance with safety and operational guidelines. Deliver clean linen carts to designated areas and maintain proper stock levels. Keep the laundry area clean and orderly, including cleaning machines, drains, floors, and workspaces. Manage multiple machines and loads simultaneously to ensure efficiency.
Environmental Services Responsibilities:
Clean and sanitize resident rooms, restrooms, and common areas following the 7-step cleaning process. Perform daily cleaning tasks such as mopping, vacuuming, dusting, disinfecting surfaces, and restocking paper supplies. Change bed linens, collect and dispose of trash, and maintain safe, hygienic conditions throughout the facility. Perform carpet and upholstery cleaning/extraction as assigned. Handle chemicals safely and follow infection control protocols. Respond to spills or accidents promptly and appropriately.
General Responsibilities:
Work cooperatively with team members and supervisors, fostering a positive and respectful environment. Report equipment issues, safety hazards, or needed repairs promptly. Maintain professional appearance and personal hygiene in accordance with dress code. Participate in orientation, training, and mentorship of new team members. Demonstrate dependability, punctuality, and accountability in all tasks. Other duties as assigned. Entry Requirements High school diploma or GED required. Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to work independently and within a team setting. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Prior cleaning or laundry experience preferred but not required. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background check and drug screening. Physical Requirements Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, twisting, climbing, and reaching. Ability to push/pull carts up to 500 pounds. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
