Job Description

Prairie Restoration Technician Confederated Tribes of the Chehalis Reservation Oakville, Washington Job Type Temporary Salary Pay starts at $21.12 per hour, with opportunity for increase DOE Min. Experience 0 - 1 year The Chehalis Tribe is seeking 2-3 motived Prairie Restoration Technicians to help steward Salish lowland prairie habitats in the Chehalis Basin as part of the Camas Prairies and Indigenous Ecosystems program. Employed by Chehalis Tribe, the technicians will work with a collaborative Shared Resources Crew comprised of team members from multiple organizations to support prairie restoration on tribal, state, federal, and private land. The technicians will participate in habitat restoration projects such as invasive species removal, planting and seeding, seed collection, prescribed fire, vegetation monitoring, and more. While prior experience in these tasks is not required, applicants should be comfortable learning to apply herbicide, use power tools like chainsaws and brushcutters, operate equipment like tractors and UTVs, and participate in prescribed burns. Technicians will receive training to become certified as a FFT2 wildland firefighter to participate in prescribed burns, as well as a WSDA pesticide applicator license. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED. Experience working with indigenous communities is preferred.
