SAI Gulf, LLC About SAI Gulf, LLC:
SAI Gulf specializes in the sampling and analysis of solid fuels such as coal, coke, and petroleum coke in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico region and samples over 45 million tons of dry bulk commodities annually. SAI Gulf currently operates three testing laboratories fully equipped to provide sample preparation and analytical services for dry bulk fuel commodities. Position Summary SAI Gulf is seeking a Sample Technician to join our Jasper Alabama operations team. This hands-on field position is responsible for collecting coal and other bulk commodity samples for laboratory analysis while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and professionalism. This position works primarily at the Shoal Creek facility and requires working around barges, industrial equipment, and outdoor environments.Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Essential Job Responsibilities Collect coal and bulk material samples from barges, stockpiles, and other designated locations Operate and maintain manual and mechanical sampling equipment Label and document samples accurately with date, time, location, and identifying information Complete sampling reports and related paperwork accurately and on time Follow all company, customer, and terminal safety procedures Wear required PPE at all times Perform housekeeping duties in work areas, walkways, and sampling locations Communicate job status, concerns, and operational issues to the Field Supervisor Report unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses immediately Assist with equipment cleaning, maintenance, and inspections Conduct all duties in accordance with company quality standards and procedures Qualifications Required Must be at least 21 years old Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English Basic math skills Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety Preferred Experience in sampling, inspection, industrial operations, or material handling Experience working around barges, railcars, or bulk commodities Experience using power tools, hand tools, and industrial equipment Equipment maintenance experience Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to: Stand and walk for extended periods Climb stairs, ladders, and stockpiles Lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment Bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, and shovel material Work outdoors in varying weather conditions Work over or near water Work on uneven surfaces and industrial sites At SAI Gulf, we strive to create a work environment where every person is valued, respected, and safe from discrimination or harassment of any kind.
