EXAMPLES OF JOB DUTIES

General Lab Maintenance:

Washing and autoclaving glassware, cages, and reusable plasticware. Restocking supplies (gloves, wipes, pipette tips, tubes, ethanol bottles, paper towels). Wiping down benches, hoods, and shared equipment Cleaning behavioral chambers (open field, NOR arenas, operant boxes). Inventorying all lab stock Labeling cabinets, drawers, and supplies for organization. Animal husbandry

Documentation & Data Support:

Writing or formatting step-by-step protocols. Transcribing handwritten data into spreadsheets. Organizing lab notebooks, shared drives, and electronic folders. Creating experimental checklists or sample ID sheets Preparing labels for tubes, syringes, and samples. Taking meeting notes during lab meetings Updating whiteboards or lab calendars with experiment schedules. Formatting references, citations, or grant sections.

Maintaining logs for:

freezer/fridge temperature. Glove/pipette tip usage behavioral equipment usage.

Computer/Data Tasks:

Creating spreadsheets for sample tracking. Plotting basic graphs. Importing behavioral data into analysis folders. Helping maintain backups on external drives. Editing PowerPoint slides for lab presentations. Compliance & Safety Support. Checking that chemical labels and SDS sheets are up to date. Restocking PPE (gloves, masks, goggles). Creating spill kit restock lists. Helping prepare training documentation for new students.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY

: Must be 18 years of age, have a high school diploma and be enrolled in one of the following degree programs - Associate, Bachelor or Master's.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to verify current student status in formal accredited program upon hire. Acceptable documentation to include either a letter from academic advisor on letterhead; or a course schedule listing current term of enrollment, name of educational institute and student's name.

SCHEDULE

Part-time, 16 hours per week. Schedule based on lab needs.

SALARY:

The hourly rate is $16.94. This position is not eligible for benefits. The duration of this appointment will be 1 year from hire date, and may be less or continued based on need. Due to the special nature of this position, continuous employment cannot be guaranteed.
