About Thompson Creek Mine The Thompson Creek Mine is a primary, surface molybdenum mine and mill located approximately 48 kilometers southwest of the town of Challis in Idaho's Custer County. In operations since 1983, the mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods with large electric-powered shovels that can each move up to 100,000 tons of waste rock and ore per day. Thompson Creek Mine promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site. About The Opportunity We are looking for a Environmental Technician to join our Thompson Creek team. The Environmental Technician will perform environmental monitoring, inspections and sampling duties to maintain compliance with site permits and conserve environmental integrity. This incumbent will assist in various projects needed for the site. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Conduct site reviews and set up monitoring equipment. Collect soil, water, air, and biological samples for laboratory analysis. Support the implementation and maintenance of environmental compliance programs, policies, procedures, and recordkeeping systems. Manifesting, packaging, spill response, labeling, loading/unloading, coordinating transportation, and sampling/profiling material while adhering to state and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations. Sample waste streams according to prescribed policies and procedures. Participate in environmental compliance inspections, audits, and gap assessments while helping track corrective actions and compliance improvement activities. Assist in evaluating site operations, equipment, processes, and chemical use to help identify environmental risks and support implementation of appropriate controls. Support recurring air quality compliance tasks including emissions tracking, recordkeeping, permit compliance support, reporting coordination, and management of environmental compliance data. About You To qualify, the following skills and experiences are required: A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, or a closely related natural science field preferred. Familiarity with government regulatory frameworks such as EPA or NEPA requirements. Ability to obtain and maintain an Idaho Potable Water licence. Experience with mapping tools like GIS (Geographic Information Systems), GPS, and various environmental data collection software. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Possess and maintain a valid a driver's license. Strong computer skills and experience working with Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience working in adverse conditions. Safety minded and willingness to adhere to safe work practices.
