An Environmental Technician assists with testing and sampling or monitoring needed for environmental clean-up efforts or projects to mitigate environmental pollution. Assists environmental engineers or environmental scientists. Collects air, water or soil samples, operates field test equipment and conducts laboratory research. Coordinates work at sites with contaminated soil or water, or hazardous waste clean-up sites.
Must be at least 16 years old and in high school for 2 years Volunteer work at Science Center or similar venue Prior experience working with children, preferred

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Responsible for ticket sales, gift shop sales and monitoring the lobby Give short presentations, as needed Assist attendees with science lab activities Assist with check-in and assignments Ability to work flexible hours and weekends Help set up and clean up daily Interacts with attendees Performs other work-related duties as assigned

The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard. The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
