(24 hours per week) Environmental Testing Solutions, Inc. is seeking an Environmental Laboratory Technician to work in our wet chemistry/aquatic toxicology laboratory. We are seeking a part-time team member with the potential to grow into a full-time role. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player and a valuable asset to the company.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday:

8:00 am - 3:00 pm The ideal candidate would be dependable, attentive, punctual, motivated, and interested in learning environmental testing procedures. Ability to follow precise laboratory practices and procedures while working independently. Have basic knowledge of laboratory terminology. Have a biology, environmental, or chemistry background. Preference given to applicants that have chemistry laboratory experience. Duties would include but are not limited to: Perform basic wet chemistry analyses including benchtop analyses and bacteria testing in support of North Carolina permits.

Short hold-time testing including:

turbidity, fecal coliform, settleable solids. Chemical analyses in association with toxicity tests: pH, dissolved oxygen, conductivity, chlorine.

General laboratory maintenance including:

preparation of standards, sterilizing laboratory equipment, media preparation and washing glassware. Using company vehicle to pick up samples from facilities in Western North Carolina. Receive shipments via FedEx and UPS. Assist with unpacking coolers and checking sample temperatures upon receipt. Completing chain-of-custody forms. Receiving samples from clients. Assist with checking sample temperatures and verifying proper sample preservation (pH and chlorine checks). Completing chain-of-custody forms General housekeeping duties.

Working with our fish culture:

maintenance of cultures, health and reproduction, cleaning filters and tanks. Environmental Testing Solutions, Inc., established in October 2000, is a privately-owned laboratory that specializes in aquatic toxicity, wastewater and drinking water testing. The laboratory strives to provide quality testing services for municipalities, industrial and chemical companies, environmental consultants, and government agencies throughout the Southeast.

Compensation Information:

Automatic 90-Day Pay Review Automatic Annual Pay Review Hourly wage ($17.00/hour)

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to stand a minimum of 4 hours per day Must be able to lift 25 lbs
