- We seek a Junior Environmental Technician based in Fayetteville, NC to support environmental remediation, demolition, and site restoration for industrial, municipal, and federal clients across the Carolinas.
- Field Operations & Site Support
- + Assist with daily field activities for remediation, demolition, excavation/backfill, cap/cover placement, trenching, and site restoration per work plans and specifications.
- Environmental Sampling & Systems Support
- + Support groundwater, soil, and soil vapor sampling programs (sample collection, preservation, documentation, and chain-of-custody).
- Health & Safety Participation
- + Follow AECOM safety policies and Site-Specific Health and Safety Plans (SSHPs); participate in JHAs/tailgates and stop work if unsafe conditions arise. + Use required PPE correctly, report incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions immediately. + Maintain compliance with OSHA and applicable state requirements during all phases of work.
- Documentation & QA/QC
- + Maintain complete and accurate field logs, daily reports, equipment logs, photo documentation, and chain-of-custody records. + Perform basic data entry and QA/QC checks for measurements and sampling results. + Support preparation of progress updates and closeout documentation for project deliverables.
- Coordination & Communication
- + Coordinate day-to-day needs with the site supervisor, project manager, subcontractors, and client representatives as directed. + Communicate field status, issues, and material/equipment needs promptly and professionally. + Participate in mobilization/demobilization planning and readiness checks.
- Qualifications
- Minimum Requirements
- + High School Diploma (or equivalent) or demonstrated equivalency of education and experience.
HAZWOPER
(current) or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire (training provided).- Preferred Qualifications
- + 1+ years of environmental remediation, construction, utilities, or industrial fieldwork experience.
HAZWOPER
with recent refresher; OSHA 10 or 30 Construction and CPR/First Aid certifications. + Experience with basic sampling, meter use (e.g., PID, multi-parameter), and remediation system O&M tasks. + Familiarity with RCRA waste handling basics, vapor intrusion mitigation, and site decon procedures. + Exposure to earthwork and heavy construction techniques; ability to read basic construction plans and follow specifications. + Proficiency with field documentation (daily reports, chain-of-custody, photo logs); basic Excel/Word skills. + Experience working on EPA Superfund or federal programs (e.g., DOD/USACE) is a plus.- Additional Information
- Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $18 to $23.
