About the role:

As an Environmental Technician, the ideal candidate will support day-to-day environmental compliance activities for the Greenwood manufacturing facility. This role assists with inspections, sampling, waste handling, recordkeeping, environmental monitoring, and implementation of site procedures. The Environmental Technician will work closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and EHS leadership to help maintain regulatory compliance, identify environmental concerns, and support continuous improvement in environmental performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform routine environmental inspections, walkthroughs, and observations to support compliance with site procedures and regulatory requirements. Collect, label, document, and coordinate environmental samples, including stormwater, wastewater, air, or other environmental monitoring samples as required. Assist with hazardous and non-hazardous waste management activities, including labeling, storage area inspections, container tracking, and coordination of disposal or recycling shipments. Maintain environmental records, logs, manifests, inspection forms, and other documentation needed to support regulatory reporting and internal compliance reviews. Support stormwater, wastewater, spill prevention, air compliance, and waste management programs through field checks, data collection, and documentation. Identify and report environmental concerns, spills, leaks, damaged containers, labeling issues, or other compliance risks to the appropriate site leader. Assist with environmental incident response, cleanup coordination, root cause follow-up, and corrective action tracking as directed. Support environmental audits and regulatory inspections by helping gather records, escorting visitors as assigned, and completing follow-up actions. Conduct or assist with environmental training, toolbox talks, and employee awareness activities related to waste handling, spill response, recycling, and site environmental procedures. Monitor environmental supplies, spill kits, labels, waste containers, and related materials to ensure availability and proper condition. Enter environmental data into spreadsheets, databases, or company systems and help prepare routine reports for review by EHS leadership. Follow all safety and environmental procedures while working in production, utility, waste storage, and outdoor areas of the facility. Support continuous improvement projects focused on waste reduction, recycling, pollution prevention, housekeeping, and environmental performance.

Minimum Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical training in Environmental Science, Environmental Technology, Industrial Technology, Occupational Safety, or a related field preferred. 1 - 3 years of experience in environmental compliance, industrial operations, manufacturing, waste handling, sampling, or a related technical role preferred. Experience working in a manufacturing, chemical, utilities, laboratory, or industrial environment is preferred.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Prior experience with hazardous waste handling, stormwater inspections, wastewater sampling, spill response, or environmental recordkeeping is preferred. Environmental, safety, forklift, HAZWOPER, DOT, RCRA, or related training/certification is a plus.

Desired Skills:

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures, checklists, and work instructions. Ability to accurately document inspections, samples, waste activities, and environmental observations. Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to report issues clearly and promptly. Ability to work safely in manufacturing, utility, waste storage, laboratory, and outdoor areas. Ability to prioritize routine tasks, respond to changing needs, and complete assigned follow-up actions. Comfortable using Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, databases, handheld devices, or environmental tracking systems. Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team. Willingness to learn environmental regulations, site procedures, sampling methods, and waste management practices.

Working Conditions:

Must be able to lift and position objects weighing up to 50 lbs., up to 10% of the work time.
