WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY

As an Epidemiologist, you will: Conduct epidemiologic, event-based surveillance, and public health intelligence activities to identify, assess, and communicate emerging public health threats. Provide scientific and technical consultation to public health partners on surveillance methods, epidemiologic analyses, and public health risk assessment. Prepare and disseminate reports, briefings, presentations, and publications that communicate epidemiologic findings and support public health decision-making. Collaborate with public health officials, researchers, and stakeholders to translate scientific findings into evidence-based policies, programs, and response actions. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (external link) at the time the degree was obtained.

AND Minimum Qualifications:

You must have one year of specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service performing ALL of the following: Leading and coordinating complex programmatic, epidemiologic, and surveillance activities, with a focus on event-based surveillance, public health intelligence, and epidemic intelligence to detect, assess, and communicate emerging public health threats. Identifying and assessing emerging public health threats through analysis of diverse information sources; monitoring global early warning signals; applying epidemiologic and surveillance methods to evaluate and communicate public health risks; and supporting response activities with timely intelligence. Providing scientific and technical consultation to public health agencies, collaborating with partners and subject matter experts, preparing analytic reports, presenting findings, and communicating complex scientific information to support public health decision-making.
