Job Description

The mission of the Louisiana Veterans Home is to primarily serve the Veterans' population of Louisiana through the provision of medical, restorative, and rehabilitative services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. The primary objective of the home is to provide quality nursing care to eligible veterans, with the ultimate goal of returning them to the highest possible levels of physical and mental capacity. The Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home is seeking a compassionate and experienced RN Supervisor A/ Infection Control to lead and support staff in providing high-quality care to our honored veterans. Possession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or a temporary permit or multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state to practice as a registered nurse plus one of the following: Three years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR A bachelor's degree in nursing plus two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR A master's degree in nursing or public health plus two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR A doctorate in nursing or public health plus one year of experience as a licensed registered nurse. Job Duties:
Performs facility-wide surveillance and data collection as part of an overall infection-control program. Investigates possible incidences of infection and implements remedial action. Works with the infection control committee and LDVA Compliance team to establish infection control standards and procedures. Educates staff on how to prevent and control infections. Informs the appropriate staff and state organizations of any reportable infections and diseases. Participates in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement program. Requires advanced education and training in the position's specialty area as required by regulatory mandate. Reports to the Assistant Director of Nursing and/or the Director of Nursing.
