Job Description

Job Summary - Why you'll love this position RN Supervisor - Infection Prevention St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center North Campus, 5351 Delmar Blvd. St. Louis, MO 63112 South Campus, 5300 Arsenal St, St. Louis, MO 63139 The main purpose of an Infection Preventionist is to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff by preventing the spread of infectious diseases. This includes monitoring infection control practices, educating staff on proper precautions, and ensuring compliance with CDC and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
Conduct ongoing surveillance of healthcare- associated infections (HAIs), analyze trends, report findings to leadership and regulatory bodies. Develop, implement, and evaluate infection prevention and control policies and procedures in accordance with CDC, state and accreditation standards. Lead outbreak investigations, implement containment strategies, and monitor effectiveness of interventions to prevent further transmission. Provide education and competency validation for clinical and non-clinical staff on infection prevention practices, including hand hygiene, PPE use, isolation precautions, and exposure response. Perform routine infection control rounds and audits to ensure compliance with environmental cleaning standards and transmission based precautions. Collaborate with Employee Health to manage communicable disease exposures, vaccination compliance, and return to work guidance. Participate in performance improvement initiatives, risk assessments, and interdisciplinary committees to reduce infection risk and enhance patient safety. Maintain required documentation, regulatory reporting, and readiness for surveys.
Eligibility:
RN Licensure or equivalent clinical experience required. Minimum of an Associate in Nursing or related Healthcare; Bachelors preferred. Certification in Infection Prevention Control (CIC) preferred or required within a defined timeframe. Prior experience in infection prevention required.
