Position Overview:

Seeking a full-time Infection Preventionist (IP) to support the Office of Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI). The Infection Preventionist will serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in infection prevention and control (IPC), providing consultation, education, assessments, outbreak support, and technical guidance to healthcare and congregate care facilities throughout Arizona.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in an applied clinical science, such as: Nursing Public Health Microbiology Clinical Laboratory Science Medical Technology Related field Certified in Infection Control (CIC®) through the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC) — Required Previous experience working as an Infection Preventionist (IP) in an acute-care setting — Required Strong knowledge of infection prevention and control practices. Skills:

Experience with infection prevention programs in: Acute-care hospitals Long-term care facilities Dialysis Outpatient settings Long-term acute-care hospitals Assisted living Memory care Other congregate-care settings Experience planning, implementing, and evaluating IPC policies, procedures, and practices. Experience conducting on-site infection prevention assessments . Strong technical skills, including: Microsoft Word Spreadsheets Database management Google Suite Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience reviewing and editing technical documents. Experience conducting interviews and presentations. Strong organizational and prioritization skills. Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide infection prevention and control support to programs and track activities against grant objectives and milestones. Develop and update SOPs, protocols, guidelines, and procedures related to infection prevention and control. Participate in strategic planning and develop initiatives to strengthen IPC efforts throughout Arizona. Conduct on-site and virtual IPC assessments of healthcare and congregate-care facilities. Prepare assessment summary reports and recommendations within two weeks of completing an assessment. Develop mitigation tools when necessary. Follow up with facilities to verify implementation of recommended corrective actions. Educate licensing surveyors on infection prevention and control practices. Conduct IPC training on topics such as: PPE Hand hygiene Cleaning and disinfection Transmission-based precautions Surveillance methods Deliver training through presentations, webinars, recorded videos, quick guides, templates, and other educational formats. Provide consultation during outbreak investigations , particularly those involving healthcare facilities. Interview healthcare facilities regarding outbreak and exposure risk factors. Provide IPC subject matter expertise when drafting, reviewing, and editing technical reports and educational materials. Consult with local and tribal health departments regarding infection prevention practices. Provide resources and training to help local health jurisdictions build IPC assessment capabilities. Educate internal staff on appropriate disease prevention and control precautions. Evaluate research and evidence-based practices and incorporate appropriate findings into routine practice. Serve as the subject matter expert for general infection prevention and control practices . Perform other duties as assigned.
