Infection Preventionist - Epidemiologist III - Ebola Infection Prevention & Control Position Overview This position will conduct Ebola Infection Control Assessment and Response (ICAR) assessments in healthcare facilities throughout Texas, identify infection prevention gaps, develop evidence-based recommendations, and provide education and technical assistance to healthcare facilities, epidemiologists, and public health partners. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in healthcare infection prevention or infectious disease epidemiology, strong knowledge of infection control practices, and an active Certification in Infection Control (CIC) . Key Responsibilities Serve as a subject matter expert for Ebola infection prevention, control, preparedness, and response. Conduct Ebola Infection Control Assessment and Response (ICAR) assessments at healthcare facilities. Evaluate healthcare infection prevention practices and identify potential gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement. Develop clear recommendations and corrective strategies to address identified infection prevention and control gaps. Provide Ebola infection prevention and control education, training, consultation, and technical assistance to healthcare facilities and epidemiologists. Develop educational materials, training programs, technical reports, presentations, and other resources related to Ebola prevention and response. Collaborate with Healthcare-Associated Infection (HAI) Epidemiologists, Healthcare Safety Unit staff, and High Consequence Infectious Disease staff to strengthen statewide preparedness and response efforts. Consult and collaborate with healthcare facilities, local health departments, laboratories, and state and national partners. Support public health actions designed to strengthen infection prevention practices and healthcare safety. Apply Quality Assurance (QA) and improvement methodologies to evaluate processes and recommend improvements in efficiency and quality. Plan, organize, and facilitate meetings with internal and external stakeholders. Manage multiple projects, assessments, and assignments with varying priorities and deadlines. Exercise sound independent judgment when evaluating situations and developing recommendations. Complete assignments autonomously, accurately, and with strong attention to detail to ensure program objectives and quality standards are consistently achieved. Required Qualifications Candidates must meet all of the following initial criteria: Bachelor's degree (BA, BS); AND Master's degree (MPH, MS, MSN), Doctorate degree (PhD., DSc., DNP., DrPH., ScD., DMSc.), OR professional certification or licensure (RN, MT[ASCP], PA, MBBS, MD, DO); AND Certification in Infection Control (CIC); AND Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in healthcare infection prevention or infectious disease epidemiology Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong knowledge of infection prevention and control principles and practices. Demonstrated skill conducting Infection Control Assessment and Response (ICAR) assessments. Ability to educate and train internal and external partners effectively. Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of Quality Assurance improvement processes and methodologies. Ability to exercise sound judgment when evaluating situations and recommending efficiency and quality assurance improvements. Ability to quickly learn and effectively implement new procedures, practices, and techniques.

Travel Requirements Travel throughout Texas is required to conduct infection control assessments and provide education and technical assistance to healthcare facilities. Approved travel expenses will be covered by DSHS in accordance with DSHS Travel Policy and applicable GSG travel rates.
