Job Overview We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Staff Development Coordinator/Infection Preventionist to join our dynamic team. This vital role combines staff education and development with infection prevention and control initiatives, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and promoting a safe, healthy environment for residents and staff alike. The ideal candidate will be passionate about healthcare excellence, possess strong leadership skills, and demonstrate expertise in infection prevention strategies. Must have 2 years of skilled nursing experience and a valid RN/LPN license. Duties Develop, implement, and evaluate staff training programs focused on infection control, healthcare regulations, and best practices in patient care. Lead infection prevention efforts by monitoring compliance with CDC guidelines, OSHA standards, and long-term care regulations. Conduct ongoing surveillance of infection trends through data collection, microbiology insights, and disease prevention policies. Review medical records, documentation, and care plans to ensure adherence to infection control protocols and accurate data management. Educate staff on aseptic techniques, microbiology principles, anatomy knowledge, and infectious disease care to foster a culture of safety. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop strategies for disease prevention and patient monitoring in acute care settings such as critical care units or hospital environments. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of health regulation policies, HIPAA requirements, and public health guidelines to ensure compliance across all operations. Qualifications Proven experience in infection prevention or control within healthcare settings such as hospitals, assisted living facilities, or long-term care environments. Strong background in critical care, hospital experience, or Level I/II trauma center environments preferred. Knowledge of epidemiology, microbiology, physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to infectious diseases. Familiarity with healthcare data management systems including MDS (Minimum Data Set) documentation review and data collection processes. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage teams effectively while fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement. Comprehensive understanding of long-term care regulations, disease prevention policies, OSHA standards, and CDC guidelines. Excellent communication skills for training staff and collaborating across departments to implement infection control measures effectively.
