Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Preferred Qualifications Position Summary This incumbent is responsible for taking a hands-on role in operating and maintaining the UGA Poultry Research Complex; providing care for research animals in accordance with UGA Animal Use and Care guidelines; preparing animal rooms for experiments, assisting scientists with research as assigned, cleaning rooms, and facilities following experiments; providing maintenance and repair of facilities and grounds; and other duties as assigned by the Poultry Research Complex Manager. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies Understanding of animal research, poultry husbandry, animal care, and general agriculture practices. Physical Demands Operate, or learn to operate, agricultural equipment.
Repeatedly lift 50 pounds.
Work involves preparing, moving, and dispensing feed in 50 pound bags. This position does heavy manual labor on occasion.

Duties/Responsibilities Duties/Responsibilities Maintain breeding, feeding, health, and production records.
Set up research facilities, methods, equipment, and procedures to adapt to research needs and animal care and use compliance. Percentage of time 70 Duties/Responsibilities Undergraduate student worker training, and supervision as needed;
Development of facility SOPs, and conducting training with research staff (faculty, staff, graduate, and undergraduate students) on operation and safety procedures. Percentage of time 15 Duties/Responsibilities Maintenance of facility and equipment, ensuring safety, cleanliness, and functionality
Maintain the grounds through grounds keeping such as grass mowing, weed eating, and other duties
