Position Overview Under the direction of the Product Development Manager, the Food Scientist I will be responsible for supporting the Food Science Lab. This role helps to ensure that product development goals are met by conducting trials and studies that meet company and government standards. This role assists with routine product development processes and gains valuable experience in the scientific field. Essential Functions Assist in developing and mixing wet and dry formulas from concept through scale up and sourcing raw materials Assist in developing and managing ingredient and formulation database Assist with conducting sensory and stability studies Accurately collect, document, analyze and interpret data Perform all activities in neat, safe, hygienic, and efficient manner Maintain laboratory condition, to include equipment, supplies, quality assurance programs, and accurate records throughout all procedures Perform other lab duties as assigned or required
Qualifications Education:
Required:
Associate's Degree in science related field with at least 2 years of laboratory experience
Preferred:
Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Chemistry or related field
Certifications/Licenses:
N/A Experience:
A minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience in research facility or food manufacturing company (internship experience counts) Experience developing product formulations, evaluation in-process specifications, and formula scale up Experience conducting sensory tests and analysis, and stability studies Experience working with Genesis or any food formulation software Experience working in a Nutraceutical, or Food Science environment preferred
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of ingredient functionality Knowledge of product and formula development

This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, keyboards, and phones.
