Your impact The Senior Engineering Geologist will provide technical leadership in engineering geology, geological investigations, rock mechanics, foundation characterization, excavation, stabilization, and construction support. This role will assist the ACP and project stakeholders in evaluating geological conditions, managing geotechnical risks, and confirming that construction activities comply with the RIR Contract, Employer Requirements, approved designs, technical specifications, and recognized professional standards. The successful candidate will have extensive experience on major dam, tunnel, hydropower, or heavy civil infrastructure projects and will be comfortable working in remote construction environments. This position will require close coordination with the
ACP, RIR
Contractor, designers, geotechnical engineers, survey teams, materials specialists, quality personnel, and other project participants. Here's what you'll be doing Provide senior technical oversight for engineering geology activities associated with dam, tunnel, foundation, and heavy civil construction. Assist the ACP with reviewing geological and geotechnical requirements for inclusion in the Employer Requirements and RIR Contract. Review geological baseline information, interpretive reports, geotechnical data, design documents, technical specifications, and contractor submissions. Evaluate the RIR Contractor's geological investigation, mapping, excavation, support, instrumentation, and monitoring plans. Conduct and review geological mapping of excavations, foundations, tunnels, slopes, underground works, abutments, spillways, and other project features. Characterize rock masses, soil profiles, discontinuities, weathering, faults, shear zones, seepage conditions, groundwater, and other geological features affecting project performance. Support foundation investigations and assessments, including mapping, probing, drilling, core logging, permeability testing, geophysical investigations, and verification of foundation conditions. Review and evaluate geological and geotechnical interpretations, construction assumptions, design criteria, and proposed mitigation measures. Provide field-based geological support during excavation, foundation preparation, rock excavation, tunneling, grouting, concrete placement, slope stabilization, and other construction activities. Assess excavation conditions and recommend appropriate measures for rock support, stabilization, scaling, drainage, consolidation grouting, curtain grouting, dental concrete, and other treatments, as applicable. Review geological conditions encountered during construction and evaluate their impact on design, safety, quality, schedule, cost, and constructability. Support the review and resolution of Requests for Information, technical queries, design changes, nonconformance reports, field changes, and differing site condition claims. Coordinate with geotechnical, structural, hydraulic, materials, construction, quality, and instrumentation teams to integrate geological information into project decisions. Review contractor geological and geotechnical reports, daily records, excavation records, mapping records, drill logs, laboratory results, instrumentation data, and monitoring reports. Support the development and implementation of geological, geotechnical, and construction monitoring programs. Review data from instrumentation and monitoring systems, including piezometers, extensometers, inclinometers, convergence monitoring, settlement monitoring, and other systems, as applicable. Conduct field inspections, technical audits, and reviews to verify compliance with contractual requirements, approved methods, and applicable standards. Evaluate geological and geotechnical risks and recommend practical measures to manage risks related to foundation performance, seepage, slope stability, excavation, tunneling, and construction conditions. Prepare technical memoranda, geological mapping reports, inspection reports, construction observations, risk assessments, and other project documentation. Participate in construction, progress, technical, coordination, design, and quality meetings to address geological and geotechnical matters. Provide technical input during design reviews, constructability reviews, value engineering exercises, method statement reviews, and construction planning. Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineering geologists, geotechnical engineers, inspectors, and other project personnel. Coordinate with the

Extensive experience with engineering geology and geotechnical investigations for dams, tunnels, foundations, underground works, slopes, spillways, or other major infrastructure. Demonstrated experience with geological mapping, rock mass characterization, core logging, discontinuity assessment, groundwater evaluation, foundation investigations, and construction geology. Experience supporting major excavations, tunneling, foundation preparation, slope stabilization, grouting, rock support, and underground construction. Strong knowledge of rock mechanics, soil and rock behavior, geological hazards, seepage, discontinuity systems, weathering, faulting, and foundation performance. Experience reviewing geological and geotechnical design reports, specifications, contractor plans, method statements, technical submittals, and construction records. Experience evaluating geological conditions encountered during construction and recommending appropriate design or construction responses.
