Job Description:
The University of Florida in Gainesville Florida is seeking a full-time faculty position as Research Scientist for the Department of Geological Sciences, with duties and responsibilities comprised of overseeing the management and operations of several multi-user instruments in the Department that measure elemental and isotopic compositions of Earth, planetary, and archeological materials. The primary responsibilities include operation, calibration, maintenance, oversight, and training for: a Zeiss
EVO MA10 SEM
equipped with an Oxford Aztec EDS, a Rigaku XRF spectrometer, a Rigaku XRD, and an IsotopX NGX noble gas mass spectrometer for Ar/Ar analyses. Additional responsibilities include serving as the environmental health and safety coordinator for the Department and overseeing the mineral separation facility. Position will also participate in research, co-mentor graduate and undergraduate students, and contribute to a course in Instrumental Methods for the Department.

Position requires a Ph.D (or equivalent) in Geology, Earth Sciences, Geosciences, Geophysics, Engineering or a closely related field, and two (2) years of hands-on experience with at least one of the following instruments: a Zeiss
