Overview (Geoscientist (Intermediate)) Our client is hiring a Geoscientist (Intermediate) to join the Carbon Capture and Sequestration (CCS) team within its Low Carbon Solutions Business Unit. The team matures storage sites along the Green Line pipeline, evaluating locations suitable for long-term carbon storage. This person will be working alongside reservoir engineers, other geoscientists, and the Wells and Facilities teams to characterize storage reservoirs and de-risk appraisal decisions. One or two of the open positions may involve occasional travel to Canada. Responsibilities Lead geological and geophysical interpretation by integrating seismic, well log, core, fluid, and regional geological data sets. Characterize storage reservoirs and seals through structural and stratigraphic interpretation and 3D reservoir characterization. Build geological frameworks that feed the team's reservoir modeling work. Assess CO2 storage potential and lead volumetric assessments. Communicate subsurface risk on seal quality and other risk areas to technical leadership. Plan appraisal wells to de-risk key uncertainties identified during interpretation. Partner closely with reservoir engineers, geoscientists, and the Wells and Facilities teams on integrated subsurface decisions. Present technical findings and their associated uncertainties directly to subject matter experts. Qualifications 10 or more years of subsurface geoscience experience; strong candidates with 5 or more years will be considered. Proficiency in Petrel for seismic interpretation, well ties, log correlation, structural and stratigraphic analysis, and geological framework development. Experience characterizing subsurface conditions for carbon storage, including confining zone quality and continuity risk assessment, and fault characterization and analysis. Experience with uncertainty analysis and volumetric assessment. Ability to work independently and deliver quality technical work from day one, with minimal onboarding support. Available to work on-site at the Spring, TX campus most days, with some flexibility for remote work. Many strong candidates for this role list their title simply as geoscientist rather than geomodeler; the modeling and Petrel skills below are what to screen for. This position may involve occasional travel to Canada. Responsibilities Build 3D structural frameworks and perform property population in Petrel to support reservoir modeling. Apply property-population algorithms, including variogram-based methods, to build robust reservoir models. Integrate stratigraphic, structural, and interpretive data sets into cohesive geologic models supporting CO2 storage evaluation. Lead uncertainty analysis and scenario-based modeling to characterize storage potential and risk. Support volumetric assessments and CO2 storage potential estimates through modeling outputs. Communicate subsurface risk and model uncertainty to technical leadership and stakeholders. Partner with reservoir engineers and geoscientists on appraisal well planning informed by modeling results. Qualifications 10 or more years of geomodeling or geoscience experience with a strong modeling focus; strong candidates with 5 or more years will be considered. Hands-on Petrel experience building structural frameworks and performing property population. Familiarity with property-population algorithms, including variograms. Strong integration skills across stratigraphy, structure, and interpretation. Background in seismic interpretation, well log correlation, and geological framework development. Ability to work independently and deliver quality technical work from day one, with minimal onboarding support.
