Job Description

PhD Student Positions in Water Digital Twins Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Corpus Christi, TX, USA 🇺🇸 Two PhD student positions focusing on the development and applications of water digital twins are available in the Water and Environmental Systems Analysis Lab (WESA) at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Both positions are expected to start in Spring 2027 and are fully funded for up to four years. Position #1 will focus on the digital twins of regional water resources systems, addressing interbasin water transfer, ensemble-based hydrologic modeling, forecast-informed reservoir operations, and environmental flow management.
Required Qualifications:
(1) A master's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field; (2) Experience with the configuration and calibration of HEC-HMS or similar models.
Preferred Qualifications:
(1) Experience with ensemble-based precipitation or streamflow modeling; (2) Experience with remote sensing for surface water, evapotranspiration, or soil moisture; (3) Experience with the development of WebGIS portals using ArcGIS Online or Mapbox. Position #2 will focus on the integrated digital twins of multiple urban water infrastructures in coastal regions, including stormwater drainage, rainwater harvesting, and wastewater reclamation systems.
Required Qualifications:
(1) A master's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field; (2) Experience with the configuration and calibration of SWMM or similar models.
Preferred Qualifications:
(1) Experience in environmental or hydrologic fieldwork; (2) Experience with the analysis and modeling of socio-environmental systems; (3) Experience with the development of WebGIS portals using ArcGIS Online or Mapbox.
