Description Boehringer Ingelheim is seeking a driven, energetic, and results-oriented Scientist I to join the In Vivo Sciences group of the Immunology and Respiratory Disease Research Therapeutic Area in Ridgefield, CT. In this role, the individual will use their experience working with in vivo models and ex vivo assays to perform experiments that support our in vivo pharmacology and translational research efforts. The individual will have strong rodent in vivo technical skills that will be leveraged to participate in the design and execution of routine and non-routine experiments that conform with applicable regulations and safety standards. Duties & Responsibilities Conduct hands-on in vivo pharmacologystudiesinrodentmodels to support target validation, mechanism-of-action studies, lead optimization, and candidate selection activities within the Immunology & Respiratory portfolio. Perform routine and specialized animalprocedures, including dosing by multiple routes of administration (intravenous, intraperitoneal, subcutaneous, intramuscular, oral gavage, and intrathecal), clinical observations, blood and tissue collection, necropsy, and sample processing. Execute well-designed experiments independently and efficiently, while contributing to the planning, optimization, and troubleshooting of study protocols under the guidance of senior scientists. Generate, analyze, interpret, and communicate high-quality pharmacology data to support project team discussions and decision-making. Support the development, characterization, and application of rodent disease models relevant to immunology, autoimmune, inflammatory, and fibrotic diseases. Perform ex vivo and tissue-based analyses, including immunoassays, molecular biology techniques, and other laboratory methods used to characterize pharmacodynamic responses and mechanism of action. Reports and treats data with a high level of integrity and ethics; effectively documents and maintains meticulous experimental results and protocols in electronic workbooks and other data systems in an accurate, complete and timely manner Prepare technical summaries, study reports, protocols, and presentations for project teams and scientific discussions. Communicates own work orally and in writing Contribute to the implementation of new technologies, laboratory methods, and process improvements that enhance study quality, efficiency, and scientific impact. Operate, troubleshoot, and perform routine maintenance of laboratory equipment while ensuring compliance with applicable safety, animal welfare, and regulatory requirements. Complies with applicable regulations, performing all work in a safe manner while maintaining proper records in accordance with SOPs and policies. Requirements Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Biology, Pharmacology) required. Comfort in planning experiments requiring the use of animal models or animal tissues; experience in animal handling, routine routes of injection (intravenous, intraperitoneal, subcutaneous, intramuscular, oral gastric, and intrathecal), health and clinical end point monitoring, sample collection and tissue harvesting is required. Ability to learn new technologies and concepts Ability to function in matrixed and multi-disciplinary teams Ability to create written scientific reports and protocols; strong verbal communication skills are required This role requires a highly motivated, dependable, and well-organized individual who can solve problems and operate with supervision Physical capability to perform lab tasks (e.g., lifting, standing, using PPE). Certification (e.g., A.S.C.P.) is desirable for specific roles (e.g., Clinical Pathology). May require an ability to push, pull, lift and carry objects up to 50lbs Comfort in planning experiments requiring the use of animal models or animal tissues; experience in animal handling, routine routes of injection (intravenous, intraperitoneal, subcutaneous, intramuscular, oral gastric, and intrathecal), health and clinical end point monitoring, sample collection and tissue harvesting is required.
Eligibility Requirements :
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction. Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required). Must be 18 years of age or older. Compensation Data The base salary range for Scientist I is $64,200.00 to $96,400.00.. The position may be eligible for a role specific discretionary bonus, relocation, and/or other compensation elements. We continuously review market data and may adjust salary ranges as needed in the future. Knowledge in immunology principles, auto-immune and auto-inflammatory diseases, and in vivo disease models is desired.
