Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist (Microbiology)
Location:
Dover, DE Shift:
Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30
PM Pay Range:
$32.03 - $49.64 per hour
Sign-On Bonus:
$12,000 Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our Microbiology team in Dover, DE. This leadership role assists the Laboratory Section Supervisor and Laboratory Manager with the daily operational and technical management of the department while ensuring high-quality laboratory services, regulatory compliance, and exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate will have strong microbiology experience, ASCP certification, and a proven background in a high-complexity laboratory environment. Responsibilities Assist with daily laboratory operations and workflow management. Serve as a resource for technical troubleshooting and problem resolution. Perform laboratory testing, specimen analysis, and result reporting. Lead staff assignments and adjust workloads as needed. Assist with training, competency assessments, and performance evaluations. Maintain quality control programs and regulatory compliance standards. Coordinate inventory management, supply ordering, and vendor communications. Oversee proficiency testing, instrument maintenance, and documentation. Assist in implementing new procedures, validations, and process improvements. Act as supervisor in the absence of leadership. Qualifications Required Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related science field meeting MLS educational requirements. Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP). Microbiology experience required. Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Laboratory Technician, or equivalent role in a high-complexity laboratory. Preferred Additional certification related to the position. 5+ years of relevant laboratory experience in a high-complexity laboratory setting.
