Onsite Position Summary The Medical Lab Scientist II is responsible for performing routine and complex clinical laboratory testing while ensuring accurate, timely, and quality patient results. This position supports the Core Laboratory and requires a Generalist with experience in Chemistry, Hematology, and Blood Bank. Responsibilities are interchangeable with Medical Technologist and Clinical Laboratory Scientist roles. Key Responsibilities Determine specimen acceptability according to established laboratory criteria. Perform routine and complex laboratory testing following departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Monitor, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instrumentation. Make sound technical decisions regarding testing, troubleshooting, and problem resolution. Prepare, validate, and evaluate laboratory reagents and quality control materials. Report accurate and timely patient test results. Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures. Maintain laboratory inventory and replenish testing supplies as needed. Assist with specimen processing and handling when required. Support Chemistry, Hematology, and Blood Bank testing within the Core Laboratory. Maintain a safe laboratory environment and follow all PPE and safety protocols. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, or another qualifying biological science that meets CLIA requirements. Minimum of 2-4 years of clinical laboratory testing experience. Generalist laboratory experience required. Experience in Chemistry, Hematology, and Blood Bank required. Florida Medical Technologist License required. ASCP or AMT Certification required. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. Experience with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) preferred. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. High attention to detail and commitment to quality patient care. Must successfully pass a Color Vision Screening. Flexibility to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business needs. Working Conditions & Physical Demands Fast-paced Core Laboratory environment. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive laboratory tasks. Follow all laboratory safety procedures and PPE requirements.
