Responsibilities of Medical Lab Scientist:
Shift:
10- hours Days Shift details: 7.30 AM to 3.00 PM 40 hours/week. (4
- 10) 13-week contract Conduct a variety of laboratory tests including clinical chemistry, microbiology, hematology, and immunoassays to support patient diagnosis and treatment.
Perform specialized procedures such as
ELISA, PCR, RNA
extraction, DNA isolation, flow cytometry, and blood banking techniques with precision and adherence to protocols. Manage laboratory data through Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and ensure accurate documentation of test results. Implement and monitor laboratory quality control protocols to maintain compliance with CLIA regulations and ensure the integrity of testing processes. Collect and process specimens through venipuncture, phlebotomy, and specimen handling procedures while maintaining aseptic techniques. Operate and maintain medical laboratory equipment including centrifuges, analyzers, microscopes, and blood sampling devices. Interpret diagnostic test results accurately for clinical relevance while collaborating with healthcare professionals on complex cases. Ensure laboratory safety standards are upheld at all times by following proper biosafety practices and maintaining a clean work environment. Support clinical trials and research laboratory activities by preparing assays, analyzing data, and documenting findings meticulously. Skills Extensive knowledge of laboratory techniques such as ELISA, PCR, flow cytometry, immunoassays, and microbiology testing. Proficiency in data management systems including Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and Laboratory Management Software. Strong understanding of CLIA regulations, laboratory quality control procedures, and accreditation standards. Experience with specimen collection/processing, blood banking procedures, and phlebotomy including venipuncture techniques. Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, physiology principles, and clinical chemistry testing methods. Ability to analyze complex data sets using data analysis skills for research or diagnostic purposes. Excellent knowledge of laboratory safety protocols including aseptic technique and blood sampling procedures. Demonstrated experience in hospital or clinical laboratory settings with a focus on hematology and microbiology testing. Effective communication skills for documenting results clearly and collaborating within multidisciplinary teams.
