$38-$44 Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and organized Medical Laboratory Scientist to lead our hematology and urinalysis department. In this role, you will oversee daily testing workflows, lead a dedicated team of medical laboratory scientists, and ensure full compliance with regulatory standards. You will be responsible for keeping our testing operations accurate, safe, and efficient.

Core Responsibilities Lead Daily Operations:

Manage the daily workflow of the hematology and urinalysis sections, prioritizing samples and assigning tasks to technicians.

Manage Staff:

Interview, hire, train, and schedule laboratory personnel. Conduct annual performance evaluations and competency checks.

Ensure Quality Control:

Oversee all Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) protocols to protect the accuracy of patient test results.

Maintain Compliance:

Ensure the lab continuously meets all safety and legal standards, including CLIA, CAP, and OSHA guidelines.

Troubleshoot Equipment:

Maintain and calibrate automated analyzers, resolving any technical issues or instrument errors.

Perform Testing:

Step in to run manual or automated blood and urine tests during peak hours or staff shortages.

Required Qualifications Education:

Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Laboratory Science is preferred. Bachelor's degree in a related biological science is acceptable with at least 5 years of clinical hematology experience.

Certification:

Active certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) through the or American Medical Technologists (AMT).

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in a clinical laboratory which performed hematology and urinalysis testing. Experience performing manual white blood cell differentials and urine microscopic exams is required.

Leadership:

At least 1-2 years of experience in a lead technologist or supervisory role is highly preferred. Skills and Physical Demands Deep knowledge of hematology testing, blood cell morphology, and urine microscopics. Strong communication skills to collaborate with physicians, clients, and fellow laboratory personnel. Proficiency with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and computer spreadsheet tools. Ability to stand for long periods and occasionally lift lab supply boxes weighing up to 50 pounds. Pay:

$38.00 - $44.00 per hour
