Position:
Medical Lab Scientist Certified Regional Float Worksites:
Sedro-Woolley, WA Friday Harbor, WA Ketchikan, AK Duties:
Perform complex laboratory procedures and tests in areas such as blood bank, chemistry, hematology, immunology, and microbiology using established protocols and procedures. Monitor, screen, and troubleshoot devices, tests, and procedures to identify anomalies and make corrections to ensure quality. Evaluate specimens for testing, utilize appropriate criteria, and uphold established performance standards. Apply established criteria for testing, and analyze entire testing process from preparation, conducting test, functioning of devices, and procedures to ensure quality test results. Perform waived, moderate, and high complexity laboratory tests. Maintain equipment and tools; perform quality assurance testing, routine calibration, and ensuring optimal performance. May assist with the evaluations of new methods and procedures. Consult with clinicians, supervisor and other caregivers on test results, requirements, and testing protocols. Direct and guide phlebotomy and specimen management teams, may assist with orientation and assessment of new caregivers and students. Maintain appropriate records for specimens, tests, and data. Utilize computer systems in reporting and documenting analysis. Participate in department in-services and continuing education programs; attend lectures, workshops, and video presentations as required. Participate in required competency assessment and proficiency testing activities. Provide (CAP, HIPPA, etc.) compliance support.
Travel:
Primary worksite is Sedro Woolley, WA. Monthly and as-needed rotations to Friday Harbor, WA and Ketchikan, AK. Employer provides lodging and travel expenses for travel to Friday Harbor, WA and Ketchikan, AK. Salary from : $90,875.20 to $136,281.60 / year
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, or Clinical/Medical Laboratory Science (or foreign equivalent)
Skills/Requirements :
• Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, or International Medical Laboratory Scientist certification by ASCP or equivalent (AMT or AAB) is required at time of hire. Accepted certification for non-US citizens includes ASCPi, AMT, or CSMLS. • Employment will be contingent upon passing background check and drug test. All experience, skills and requirements may be gained concurrently.
