A Meteorologist studies the weather and other aspects of the atmosphere and atmospheric science. Analyses weather and climate data, reports current weather conditions and develops weather forecasts.
Under the direction of the assigned Air Pollution Control Division Manager, installs, maintains, calibrates and repairs a variety of electronic and mechanical equipment used in air monitoring, and meteorological data collection in support of air monitoring network. This is the journey level class allocated to the Air Pollution Control District. Under general supervision, installs, tests, operates, maintains, and repairs air-monitoring equipment in the shop or in the field. Ensures quality data is collected from air monitoring stations. Three (3) years of experience installing, inspecting, operating and repairing analog and digital air quality monitoring equipment and recording devices for an industrial or public agency.
OR:
Two (2) years of experience installing, inspecting, operating, and repairing analog and digital air quality monitoring equipment and recording devices for an industrial or public agency, AND thirty (30) semester units of college level course work in electronics or a closely related field. Must possess a California driver's license and possess, or be able to obtain, a State of California Visible Emissions Evaluation Certificate (VEE) within one (1) year of appointment. A valid driver's license may be required at the time of appointment and employees may also be required to drive their own vehicle and provide proof of liability insurance as per Vehicle Code VC § 160020. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This position may require pre-employment drug test, physical examination, and fingerprinting for a background investigation.
