Wichita, KS Job Details Full-time 14 hours ago Qualifications Radar data analysis Social media platforms Bachelor's degree Full Job Description KAKE, the ABC affiliate in Wichita, Kansas, has a full-time opening for a skilled on-camera Meteorologist for in-studio and consistent field weather work. This is a weather-only position. This position will analyze and present weather data, develop forecasts, and serve as a field meteorologist, motivated to put eyes on the storms and add field truth to our coverage.
Responsibilities:
Primary duties will be a mix of studio and field weather presentation, weather producing and digital contributions. Must be able to forecast and create on-air and digital weather content. Will be required to present live weather from in-studio and on-location. Will be involved on-air during continuous severe weather coverage. Ability to value add and properly communicate threats live on-air, rather than relying solely on NWS. Keep abreast of new information and technology that would enhance the presentation of weather information, graphics, and animation.
Qualifications:
Must have radar interpretation skills. Must have strong communication skills and be proficient in social media and digital communications. Must have significant hands-on experience with weather computers. Bachelor's degree in meteorology, atmospheric science, or a related field is required. Certified Broadcast Meteorologist credential from the AMS is preferred, or must have the qualifications to obtain certification. Previous experience as a Meteorologist is preferred.
