Job Description

RedTown Technical Services, LLC seeks a Weather Forecaster/Observer to support operations at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. In this role, you'll monitor, analyze, and interpret meteorological data, perform routine and special observations, and deliver clear, actionable forecasts to mission-critical stakeholders. You'll operate and help maintain weather sensing and data systems, working closely with IT staff to ensure reliable data flow and visualization. This on-site position requires strong analytical skills, precise documentation, and comfort working in a secure, structured environment with rotating or shift-based coverage. Responsibilities Monitor, analyze, and interpret meteorological data from multiple sources to produce accurate forecasts Conduct routine and special weather observations to support operational decision-making Prepare and deliver clear written and verbal weather briefings to technical and non-technical stakeholders Operate, verify, and troubleshoot weather sensing and data acquisition systems Maintain accurate logs, reports, and documentation of observations and forecasts Collaborate with IT and network staff to ensure reliable data collection, storage, and dissemination Support development and refinement of forecasting tools, models, and processes Participate in on-call, rotating, or shift work to provide continuous coverage Follow established safety, security, and data integrity protocols in a sensitive operational environment Required Skills Meteorological data analysis Weather observation and reporting Numerical weather prediction tools Radar and satellite product interpretation GIS or mapping tools Linux/Unix or Windows server environments Scripting or automation (e.g., Python, Shell) Data visualization and dashboard tools Technical report writing Networked sensor and data acquisition systems
