Job Description

QUALITY CONTROL - MICROBIOLOGIST I
Job Summary Primary responsibility is to perform microbiological testing of finished products, process samples, raw materials, environmental testing, and all else necessary to ensure the safety and quality of all products. Key Duties and Responsibilities Investigate and assist in root cause analyses of microbial contamination. Prepare media and stock solutions necessary for the Micro. Lab. Responsible for obtaining, handling, and retesting of all recheck/replate samples. Responsible for the counting/interpretation of microbiological results, the reporting of the results to the appropriate personnel, and maintenance of lab records. Responsible for performing monthly environmental air testing, water testing, and weekly incubator temperature checks. Able to run Chemical QC lab analyses as necessary... ie. egg solids and % salt. Able to sample and test all incoming loads of eggs. Update microbiology procedures manual as needed. Maintain Micro Lab in a clean and orderly manner. Inventory supplies for the Micro Lab. Aid in R D work, as necessary. Available to perform other duties as required or assigned by proper personnel.
Overall Goal of Position:
Be an integral part of producing quality products. Performance Standards (the criteria that will be used to evaluate performance) Utilize good lab practices. Accurately interpret and document microbial results. Maintain an inventory of lab supplies. Communicate clearly with other departments and maintain an open dialogue. Trend microbial data in a useful manner. Ability to observe and accurately inspect equipment for cleanliness. Demonstrates good work ethic.

Education & Experience:
College Degree is preferred. Prior manufacturing experience preferred.
Other:
Frequently is required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach and grasp with hands and arms. Regularly lift and or move up to 30 pounds on a regular basis.
