Job DescriptionThe Lead QC Microbiologist - Second Shift is a hands-on leadership role responsible for performing routine QC microbiology testing while supporting, training, and guiding a team of analysts in a cGMP-regulated environment. This role plays a key part in environmental monitoring programs, laboratory investigations, and daily laboratory operations while ensuring compliance, data integrity, and team performance.
Key ResponsibilitiesLaboratory OperationsPerform all routine QC microbiology testing and activitiesConduct environmental monitoring and compressed gas sampling of controlled environmentsCollect water and clean steam samples from manufacturing systemsSupport laboratory operations, including inventory management and stocking of media, reagents, and suppliesExecute and document laboratory investigations and reportsUtilize LIMS to track samples, testing activities, and resultsSchedule and coordinate routine testing activities (weekly, monthly, quarterly)Adhere to all safety, quality, and cGMP requirementsMeet physical job demands, including lifting up to 25 lbs., standing/walking for extended periods, and handling laboratory equipmentLeadership & Team SupportSupport and monitor performance of a team of QC microbiology analystsParticipate in onboarding and training of new and existing employeesPerform peer review of laboratory data and documentationAssist with coordinating equipment maintenance and calibration activitiesParticipate in interview participation as neededSupport overtime and weekend coverage as requiredQualificationsRequiredBachelor's degree in Life Sciences or a related scientific discipline (or equivalent relevant experience)Minimum of 3 years of hands-on microbiology experience in an industry cGMP environmentDemonstrated leadership or lead-level experienceStrong documentation, organizational, and communication skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environmentAuthorization to work in the United States without sponsorshipPreferredExperience working with LIMSFamiliarity with environmental monitoring, water systems, and clean utilitiesExperience supporting audits and laboratory investigationsAdditional InformationWhat to Expect in the

Hiring Process:

This is a full-time, onsite position based on a first-shift schedule (Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM), with overtime required as needed.
