JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education Must have the ability to read, write, take verbal instruction and perform basic arithmetic. Experience No experience is required however, previous hospital experience is preferred. Physical This is a safety sensitive position. Please see the St. Bernards Substance Abuse Policy for further information. Normal hospital environment. Close eye work. Hearing within normal range. Oral communication. Operates computer, wheelchairs, and stretchers. Requires - Mobility, sight, hearing, verbal communication, changes in temperature, exposure to disagreeable elements, (dusts, fumes, odors, water, etc.) exposure in biological, mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards. Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping. Lifting up to 100lbs, carrying up to 50 lbs, pushing/pulling up to 250 lbs via a piece of equipment.
JOB SUMMARY
The Transporter Equip Tech is responsible for transporting patients to and from their room to various departments for testing and procedures. Performs a wide range of duties including: coordinating physical bed placement, gathering and cleaning equipment daily, maintaining equipment upkeep with the assistance of bio-med and keeping hallways free and clear of equipment clutter. Helps to prepare the Department for procedures, performs procedure preps under the supervision of the circulating nurse, assist the Department clinical Educator with skills lab, responsible for maintaining, evaluating, and general repair of the Department equipment Must communicate effectively with nursing staff, physicians, department managers, and sales representatives. The transporter equipment tech promotes good public relations for the units, nursing division, and medical center organization. Performs various duties and assists in the care of the patient as assigned by the Director or Manager.
