Job Description:
Job Summary:
The part-time hourly Lab Assistant will provide support to faculty and students in the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program's laboratory sessions.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Set up, supervise, and break down lab and testing stations; maintain a safe, organized learning environment throughout lab sessions. Support laboratory instruction through demonstration, coaching, and supervision of student skill practice in simulated patient-care scenarios. Conduct and score student competency checkoffs and practical skill assessments using established course rubrics/checklists and required safety criteria. Communicate effectively with the course coordinator to learn and understand all curriculum policies and rules for testing in the lab.
Schedule:
Friday mornings in the fall semester, Monday or Wednesday, and Friday mornings in the Spring semester.
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Current New York State Physical Therapist Assistant license in good standing with 3+ years of experience within the last 5 years. Must be able to assist students with physical therapy interventions and have broad experience with current and evolving health technology as well as basic troubleshooting skills. Strong interpersonal communication skills; professionalism, reliability, and ability to collaborate with faculty and students.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prior teaching or instructional support experience in PTA education (clinical instruction and/or lab instruction, orthopedic outpatient experience). Demonstrated connections with local healthcare organizations. Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and other languages will be considered.
Additional Information:
Adjunct rate of pay for the 26/27 academic year is $48.70/ per hour. Classes will be assigned on an as needed basis dependent upon enrollment. Adjuncts are eligible to participate in the NYS Teacher's Retirement System.
