VA Maryland Health Care System Position Overview:
We are seeking a Board Certified Therapeutic Medical Physicist (TMP) to join the Radiation Oncology team at the Baltimore VA Medical Center (VAMC) . This full-time onsite role supports a state-of-the-art clinical environment focused on delivering safe, high-quality radiation therapy services to our nation's Veterans.Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and maintain the safety, accuracy, and performance of radiation therapy equipment. Conduct treatment planning quality assurance, calibration, and dosimetry support using Eclipse and ARIA systems. Perform image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), IMRT QA, and machine-specific QA. Collaborate closely with oncologists, chief physicist, dosimetrists, and therapists in a multidisciplinary care setting. Ensure compliance with ACR, ASTRO, AAPM, NRC, and NHPP standards. Contribute to continuous quality improvement, chart reviews, incident reporting (RIRAS), and performance reporting.Required Qualifications:
Board Certified in Therapeutic Medical Physics (ABR) . Minimum 2 years of clinical experience post-certification within the last 3 years. Proficient with Varian linear accelerators (Edge or equivalent) , EclipseTPS , ARIA
, and IMRT QA tools (e.g., MapCheck I/II). Experience with SiemensSOMATOM CT
simulators , TG-66 and TG-142 standards. Must meet all VA immunization, credentialing, and training requirements. Not listed on theHHS OIG Exclusion List Preferred Experience:
Familiarity with VA CPRS systems and federal documentation standards. Prior experience in government or academic radiation oncology settings.
