R D Manager, Process and Product Design Posted on May 6, 2025 by JMJ Phillip We are seeking an experienced and dynamic R D Manager, Process and Product Design to lead R D and technical activities within the Roofing Product Group (RPG). In this role, you will play a critical part in driving business revenue, profitability, and growth by managing cross-functional teams and leading innovative product and process development initiatives. This leadership role involves close collaboration with various stakeholders and will be responsible for the execution of strategic R D projects, ensuring alignment with long-term business objectives and technical excellence. Position Responsibilities Leadership & Cross-functional Team Management Lead and manage cross-functional teams to execute and deliver project objectives. Develop team members' technical expertise in process and product design, modeling, industrialization, cost reduction, waste minimization, and continuous improvement. R D Initiative Leadership Drive R D initiatives in process development, industrialization, scaling up new materials and product designs, and design control. Oversee raw material qualifications and manufacturing solutions, ensuring smooth transition of new processes and products from pilot to implementation in manufacturing. Collaborate with various internal teams (operations, quality, purchasing) and external suppliers to create and execute project plans, design experiments, analyze data, and present findings. Project Portfolio Management Manage a portfolio of R D projects, driving them to completion while making direct impacts on technical, operational, and business aspects of roofing products. Prerequisites Bachelor's degree with 18+ years of experience; Master's degree with 13+ years of experience; or PhD with 9+ years of experience in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field. Significant experience in process and product design, industrialization, and scaling up new materials and products. Certifications (Preferred, but not Required) An advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in relevant engineering fields is highly preferred. Certifications or additional training in project management or R D management are a plus.
