Faculty Associate - Research (AD-5) Energy Academic Group (EAG) Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA The Naval Postgraduate School invites applications for a faculty position as a Faculty Associate-Research (AD-5) in the Energy Academic Group (EAG). This position will be non-tenure track. The position will work with a variety of disciplines across NPS, the Department of the Navy (DON) and Department of War (DoW) and conduct research on priorities in science and technology related to energy security and resilience, water security and resilience and related environmental security issues. The position is expected to support the development of relevant curricular material for the education of future DON and DoW leadership. The mission of the Energy Academic Group is to assemble and maintain an interdisciplinary group of NPS faculty and staff that provide coordination and awareness of the group's energy activities at NPS to include education, research, and outreach. This position sits within the EAG Energy Security & Resilience team. The Naval Postgraduate School, located on the beautiful Monterey, CA peninsula, grants advanced degrees to the U.S. Armed Forces, DoD civilians, and international partners. Preferred Qualifications:
An earned graduate degree, preferably in an area that is part of NPS's educational and/or research programs, such as energy, energy security or environmental security. Candidates should have relevant experience within industry, government, higher education, or non-profit organizations in executing research, developing and delivering programs and curricular material in the areas of energy security and environmental security.
Relevant experience would include:
Researching topics at the intersection of operational energy, energy security and water security; Analyses of impacts of global change on operations, including installations, platforms, systems, and energy supply and availability; Engaging DoW and DON leadership to identify energy and water security research and technology needs and developing partnerships to align NPS efforts with warfighting requirements; Participating in working groups creating environmental security policy at the national and international levels; and, Supporting efforts to integrate energy and water security into curricula and designated training and education programs; Analyses of future/advanced energy technologies and related concepts and applications for defense systems, to include hydrogen, alternative fuels, batteries, and advanced nuclear. Candidates must provide evidence that they have the capability of developing and delivering programs and curricular material, executing research, and publishing and presenting in the intersection of energy, water and national security. Candidates must show experience in building partnerships among diverse disciplines and professions. Graduate-level teaching or professional training experience in classroom and/or virtually. Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications.
