No Position Information Dr. Tabea Springstein is seeking one full-time Lab Assistant to begin on August 15, 2026. The duration for the position is one year. Her laboratory (Emotional Lives Lab) studies emotion and emotion regulation in everyday life contexts and across adulthood. The lab uses experience sampling and other ambulatory assessment methods such as smartphone-sensing. The Lab Assistant will be involved in multiple aspects of work in the lab including participant recruitment and screening, data collection, and maintaining research protocols and data storage systems. The Lab Assistant will also have administrative duties, including managing teams of research assistants, assisting with IRB and other documents, and maintaining study databases and lab documentation. The position is ideal for motivated individuals interested in pursuing an advanced degree in psychology or related fields. There will be opportunities for authoring posters for presentation and manuscripts for publication. The full salary range for the Lab Assistant 1 is $53,766.00 - $62,994.96 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $55,937.52 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Requirements Education Requirements Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma Bachelor's degree in psychology or a related field Experience Minimum of 1 year of laboratory experience or two years of college courses in the natural, physical or social sciences and laboratory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position. Undergraduate level statistics course and experience with statistical analysis packages (e.g. Matlab, SPSS, R, Excel, etc.) Experience recruiting or scheduling human subjects. Experience collecting data from human subjects. Experience collecting and/or analyzing experience sampling data. Experience conducting independent research in psychology. Key Responsibilities The Lab Assistant will be responsible for recruiting, screening, scheduling, enrolling, and supporting participants. Recruitment activities may involve sending emails, making calls, posting or mailing fliers, or attending community events. Screening and scheduling activities involve asking questions about eligibility and availability via phone or email. Enrollment activities involve administration of questionnaires, laboratory assessments, or experience sampling tutorials. Participant support involves technical support to participants via phone and email. 50% The Lab Assistant will be involved in data storage, data monitoring and data analysis. Data storage will include assisting Tabea Springstein with setting up laboratory systems to store and organize data from various ambulatory assessment sources. Data monitoring activities include organizing and maintaining databases, quality control checks for errors in experience sampling and other ambulatory assessment data and conducting higher-level data cleaning (e.g., writing and running code for summary statistics). The Lab Assistant would process and analyze data under the supervision of Tabea Springstein. 30% The team working on the projects will include the faculty lead (Tabea Springstein), graduate students, and undergraduate research assistants. The Lab Assistant will help organize undergraduate research assistants who are working on the project to determine when they will recruit, schedule, and run participants. The Lab Assistant will orient new lab members to basic procedures (checking email, making recruitment phone calls, running participant sessions). 10% The Lab Assistant will be responsible for maintaining physical and digital records relating to the projects. This may involve updating participant and study databases or assisting with paperwork relating to other UCR entities, such as the IRB. They may help order research supplies and equipment. The Lab Assistant may also maintain the schedules of team members to organize and facilitate meetings and schedule project-related tasks. 10%
