The Center for Cyber Security at New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit an Associate Research Scientist for a one-year appointment to conduct state-of-the-art research in cybersecurity governance, law, policy, human factors, or the socio-behavioral dimensions of security. The researcher will be based primarily at New York University Abu Dhabi in the UAE and may collaborate closely with researchers at New York University in the United States. Ideal candidates will have excellent knowledge of human-centric cyber security, cybersecurity law, policy, or governance and must hold a PhD or equivalent terminal degree. The appointment will be for an initial fixed term of one year. Depending on performance, the contract may be extended. Responsibilities of the
Position:
Research Conduct world class research in systems security and privacy. Write research articles and publish work in top-tier conferences and journals. Work closely with collaborators (such as government entities and companies) to deliver ground breaking results. Supervision Mentor PhD, master, and/or bachelor students. Work with them to improve their research capability. Service Help the center in conducting workshops, conferences, competitions etc. by contributing technically and/or administratively.
Qualifications:
Essential Qualifications:
PhD in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Public Policy, Law, Psychology, Behavioral Sciences, Sociology, Business, or a related interdisciplinary field with expertise in a human-centric or policy/law-oriented cybersecurity research topic. Candidate with a PhD or equivalent terminal degree and at least three years of relevant experience in the field, excluding the years spent obtaining the PhD or equivalent terminal degree. Excellent qualitative and/or quantitative research skills (e.g., policy analysis, empirical user studies, survey methodology, or behavioral experiments). Excellent communication (both writing and oral) and interpersonal skills. Can work independently and in a team. Willingness to take initiative.
