Department Surgery/Carver College of Medicine Jobcode Research Assistant Working Title Temporary Research Assistant - Surgery Department Details The University of Iowa Department of Surgery is seeking a temporary, hourly Research Assistant to support Dr. Weigel's laboratory by assisting with basic research activities focused on understanding transcription mechanisms in breast cancer and melanoma.
Responsibilities Include:
Perform basic research activities, including procedures on laboratory animals Assist with experimental design, including revising protocols Data collection and analysis Compiling results to present to team Assist with general laboratory operations, equipment cleaning, and troubleshooting Reviewing scientific literature Other duties as assigned
Schedule:
This position is expected to work on an as-needed basis, up to 20 hours/week.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Biological science or health degree preferred Previous research experience Previous experience handling laboratory animals Successful candidates will be required to self-disclose any conviction history and will be subject to a criminal background check and credential/education verification.
