(317) 674-8390 ext. 106106 Responsibilities The Staff Intern works closely with JM Tax Advocates' team leaders in all aspects of job responsibilities, including demonstrating knowledge of industry trends, identifying client issues and conflicts, and proactively communicating solution options to team leader to deliver property tax and incentive compliance, appeal, and consulting services for JM Tax Advocates clients. The staff Intern maintains focus on delivering property tax and incentive planning opportunities. This includes researching issues, reviewing real and assessable personal property tax assessments, maintaining company workpaper database, and the preparation and presentation of assessment appeals and supporting litigation, researching available incentives, and documenting secured benefits and findings.
Responsibilities:
Completes and maintains client workplans and schedules for associated projects. Obtains and reviews assessor worksheets and property records. Assists with preparation of independent target values for each property assigned using appropriate valuation methodology. Assists with preparation of client presentations. Reviews and reconciles client data and identifies tax issues to research. Supports team management in aspects of the appeal process (informal, formal, and litigation) Reviews client tax bills for payment where required. Assists clients with accruals, budgets, forecasts. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Senior or Junior year in college Preferred - 3.5 GPA or higher Finance Major College courses in Real Estate a plus Learning Objectives Real Estate Tax appeal process Research needed to prepare for a hearing both at state and local real estate appeal boards Steps required to prepare hearing support and appeal packets
