Before a recommendation reaches a client, someone has to check the facts behind it. The Research Assistant we are looking for in Indianapolis would help do that careful groundwork for a business consulting team: finding relevant information, keeping sources straight and turning scattered material into something a colleague can actually use. This is an early-career research role, not a requirement to arrive as an experienced consultant. You would support people working on business and operations questions. Your value is in being thorough, asking what a piece of information really shows and making it easy to trace where a figure came from. For someone interested in how organizations make decisions, that is meaningful exposure to the work itself. The assignment Locate information from approved public or internal sources for a defined question. Capture the source, date and context of figures before adding them to a working file. Organize notes into short summaries that distinguish a confirmed fact from an open question. Check tables and presentation materials for simple inconsistencies before a review. Keep sensitive client material within the approved team process. A piece of research is not complete just because a search produced a result. You may need to compare two sources, ask whether a number is current or explain why a finding does not answer the original question. You would work from a brief and bring uncertainties back to the team. We are looking for discipline and curiosity, not someone who fills gaps with confident guesses. What makes the work manageable The proposed arrangement is full-time, on-site in Indianapolis, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Assignments would have a named owner and a defined purpose. You should be comfortable with spreadsheets and written summaries at a basic level, and willing to improve both through feedback. Strong reading comprehension and clean recordkeeping will help more than specialized consulting vocabulary. There is no need to claim expertise you have not yet had the opportunity to build. Show us how you approached a question, checked an answer or presented a finding clearly. That could come from work, coursework or an independent project. We appreciate people who can say, "I have not found a reliable answer yet," and then explain what they checked. That kind of honesty protects the quality of a client's decision. If you enjoy making information more dependable and want to understand how that supports business decisions, we would welcome an application.
