General Summary of Position:
This being an internal opportunity, only current UML Employees, irrespective of Bargaining units are eligible to apply for this position. The successful applicant will conduct analytical research and data collection in the area of transportation safety with an emphasis on railroad grade crossing safety using advanced LiDAR sensors and help immediate supervisor in writing scholarly articles and technical reports. There is also the possibility for the applicant to engage in teaching activities, further enhancing her/his professional development. The initial appointment will be for 6 months with a possibility of renewal based on the availability of funding and productivity and performance. Minimum Qualifications (Required):
Education:
PhD in
Civil and Environmental Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or Computer Science Experience:
Minimum three years of experience (including MS and PhD. Research experience) in relevant research
Skills:
Ability to work effectively as a team player. Strong technical writing and communication skills. Strong background in AI, machine learning, deep learning, and computer vision. Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar frameworks. Proficiency in Python and research-oriented data processing.
Additional Considerations:
Ability to work independently, with limited direction, as well as within a team environment. Ability to mentor and inspire students with limited research experience. Special Instructions to
Applicants:
This being an internal opportunity, only current UML Employees, irrespective of Bargaining units are eligible to apply for this position. This position is contingent upon funding. The initial appointment will be for 6 months with a possibility of renewal based on productivity, successful performance and the availability of funding. Position is in grade PD with anticipated salary based on the range which has minimum of $50,000, 25th quartile of: $56,500 and midpoint of $63,000. Please include a resume with your application.
