Job Description

Role Summary The Research Technician I will engage in basic research functions, and facility and equipment maintenance while supporting the larger operations team in completing studies in a safe, efficient, and accurate manner. Role Responsibilities Assist with restraint, handling, and manipulation of animal species. Perform animal observations to monitor and assess animal health and monitor the study. Collect and record data on paper and/or in an electronic laboratory information management system (LIMS) in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). Introduction to data review for GLP compliance. Sample collection including, but not limited to, non-sterile scrub of collection sites, blood draws, and urine collections. Drug administration including, but not limited to, eye drops, tablets, subcutaneous injections, intramuscular injections, and drug calculations. Basic anesthesia monitoring including intubation/extubation and use of animal warming systems. May serve as a secondary Point Technician on a study. May assist with animal husbandry, including but not limited to cleaning, feeding, watering and enrichment as needed. Perform other training or duties as assigned. Role Requirements High School Diploma/GED required Minimum 1 year experience required ALAT Certification Preferred Proficient with Microsoft Office core applications and the ability to learn and use additional applications Behavioral Expectations Decision Making/Problem-Solving Team Player Coachable Special Requirements This role works predominately in a laboratory setting. There will be exposure to animal pathogens and chemicals. There will be handling of and/or exposure to animal tissues and zoonotic organisms. Ability to don and wear personal protective gear, including N95 respirators. Physical activity includes lifting (up to 50lbs), carrying (up to 40lbs for up to 50 feet), pushing/pulling (up to 75lbs force), reaching, gripping/pinching, standing, and ascending a ladder without restriction. Ability to work beyond typical work schedule including, but not limited to, evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts with short notice.
