Position Information
This is a temporary, non-benefited position associated with a previously identified Visiting Research Scholar appointment. Unsolicited applications to this posting will NOT be considered.
Description & Details:
The Carrington Research Extension Center is seeking a temporary Visiting Research Scholar to assist with research and educational activities related to precision agriculture, crop production, and cropping systems. The scholar will work with scientists, research specialists, and other research personnel and will gain hands-on experience with agricultural research conducted under North Dakota cropping systems. Activities may include field research, crop and soil sampling, crop management, precision agriculture technologies, agricultural systems analysis, and laboratory processing of research samples.
The anticipated appointment period is September 1, 2026 through February 28, 2027. This is a temporary, non-benefited appointment.
Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM, or as required by research activities.
Advertised Pay:
$2,000 per month stipend.
The scholar will be responsible for purchasing the University's applicable non-benefited health insurance plan for students/visiting scholars, as required. Pay is based on several factors, including budget, labor market, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and/or certification and other business considerations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability and willingness to report to work on time and consistently fulfill assigned responsibilities. Interest in agricultural research, crop production, precision agriculture, or related areas. Ability and willingness to perform field and laboratory research activities. Demonstrated ability to learn procedures and safely operate specialized research equipment. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Strong attention to detail and ability to remain focused while completing assigned tasks. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a research team. Sufficient English-language proficiency to participate effectively in research, training, and professional communication.
