The successful candidates will participate in NIH-funded research projects in designing and developing small molecule antivirals targeting emerging and re-emerging viruses.

10/05/2028 Minimum Education and Experience A Ph.D. in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry or a similar science field is required. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Candidates must be able to: Design retro-synthesis routes for screening hits and perform structure-activityrelationship studies Optimize the in vitro and in vivo pharmacokinetic properties of lead compounds Interpret structure activity relationship and structure property relationship resultsand design corresponding optimization strategies Participate in and present results and literature in group meetings and departmentseminars Write manuscripts for publication and present results in conferences (Excellentverbal and writing skills are a plus) Conduct literature search skills, and have the ability to design and improve synthetic routes to support SAR studies and deliver compounds in large scale in a timely manner Perform molecular modeling including docking is a plus Overview Candidates must have the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a diverse group and be willing to learn techniques and methodologies. Candidates must be highly motivated, creative and able to maintain excellent documentation of their work.
