No County New York Street Address New York State Psychiatric Institute (NYSPI) 1051 Riverside Drive City New York State NY Zip Code 10032 Duties Description NYSPI is an OMH State-operated research facility at which world-renowned Research Scientists conduct research in biomedicine, neuroscience, experimental therapeutics, clinical interventions, and mental health services relevant to patients with mental illness. Since its inception, NYSPI has been at the forefront of psychiatry, making major contributions to the clinical care and understanding of individuals with mental illness. Located in Manhattan overlooking the Hudson River and George Washington Bridge, NYSPI provides a state-of-the-art environment for patient care, education, and research. The Institute is also the primary location of research and education activities for the Columbia University Department of Psychiatry and is affiliated with New York Presbyterian Hospital. This Research Scientist 5 at NYSPI will:

• Provide scientific direction for single-cell and spatial genomics initiatives, contributing to experimental design, assay implementation, and integrated multi-omic data analyses.
• Develop, optimize, and supervise laboratory workflows for single-cell, single-nucleus, and spatial transcriptomic and epigenomic assays, ensuring high-quality and reproducible data generation.
• Lead development of computational pipelines for large-scale genomics datasets, including scRNA-seq, snRNA-seq, scEpiegenome profiling, long-read sequencing, and spatial omics platforms.
• Integrate molecular, clinical, and behavioral data to advance translational psychiatry research and support collaborative programmes.
• Guide and mentor multidisciplinary teams, including junior laboratory and computational staff, to ensure coordinated delivery of genomics research objectives.
• Generate rigorous analysis outputs, pilot datasets, and related materials that support manuscripts, presentations, and competitive grant submissions.

Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:

Master's Degree and five years if professional research experience in the appropriate field; or a doctorate in the appropriate field and three years such experience. A master's degree or greater and at least 3 years of experience in a human subject research or human research protections program setting preferred. Additional Comments:

Posted salary is for full time position. This position is eligible for a Downstate Adjustment of $4,150.
