The Human-Computer Interaction Institute (HCII) is a living laboratory where we investigate the relationship between computer technology, human activity, and society. Founded in 1993, the HCII is a place where we work to understand and create technology that harmonizes with and improves human capabilities, goals, and social environments through interdisciplinary research and education in design, computer science, and behavioral and social sciences. We research how people work, play, and communicate within groups, organizations, and social structures, then we design, create, and evaluate technologies and tools to support human and social activities. HCII is seeking a Research Assistant to assist in the development and execution of research projects including experiment design, analysis of data collected and writing up experiment results. Core Responsibilities Uses a variety of software packages to input, manipulate, collect and record results or observations. Performs research experiments following experimental protocol and procedures. Researches and documents information by compiling and maintaining accurate and detailed records. Summarizes statistical information for analysis, examination or presentation; writes technical reports. May build and validate quantitative models. Identifies problems and obstacles to progress; develops strategies to solve problems. May program software in support of job functions. Attends project meetings. Performs related duties as assigned. Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required. 1-3 years of research experience. Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills. A combination of education and proven experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
