Position Summary Information Job Description Summary:
The Research Assistant will work with Dr. Koons and the research team on an NIH -funded study focused on improving outcomes for lung transplant patients and their caregivers. This position offers undergraduate students hands-on experience with clinical research, including participant recruitment, longitudinal data collection, and research team collaboration
Requirements:
  • Recruiting, screening, enrolling, and consenting caregiver participants
  • Taking a lead role in conducting study visits with patients and caregivers
  • Administering study measures and collecting research data in accordance with study protocols
  • Entering and maintaining study data in a database
  • Participating in weekly research team meetings
  • Assisting with other research activities as needed Research Assistants will receive training and mentorship in clinical research procedures and have opportunities to contribute to research presentations, abstracts, and publications.
This position is particularly well suited for students interested in gaining experience in clinical and behavioral research, nursing, healthcare, psychology, public health, or related fields.
Additional Information:
o Undergraduate students in nursing, psychology, biology, or another health- or behavioral-science-related field o Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills o Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently and collaboratively o Comfortable interacting professionally with patients and caregivers o Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow research protocols o Commitment of approximately 10 hours/week for at least two semesters, preferably 12 months
