Are you interested in supervision that is collaborative and challenging at the same time? Have you wanted to learn more about couples therapy but were afraid of managing more than one person in the room? Have you wanted to learn more about sex therapy but were afraid of not knowing enough already? Then Boston Center for Couples and Sexuality is looking for YOU to join our team! The first several years as a graduate therapist, both before you earn your license AND after you earn your license can be harrowing times. Yes, you took all the classes, wrote all the papers and reflections, and hopefully got good supervision around all the clients that you saw. There is still lots of learning to do and supervisory/consultation support to be had! Unfortunately, couples therapy training in graduate programs is sorely lacking in real-world applicability, Many student therapists are told: "Couples therapy is just like individual therapy, only with two people in the room."
NOT TRUE.
At BCCS we are looking to train excellent couples therapists who are not afraid to talk about sex with their clients. Couples (and throuples) therapy calls for much more structure and psychoeducation about communication in order to support clients in understanding their partner's relationship patterns as well as their own in real time.
